Lush is one of those brands that deserve to be where they are when it comes to success. They are green, they give back to the planet and they cater to every possible person and lifestyle with their amazing and innovative products. Their products are yummy-smelling, well-named and most importantly, deliver incredible quality. Their prices are also quite unbeatable considering the richness and quality of the ingredients they use. All in all: a wonderful brand.
I’ve had many Lush products over the years and been delighted with almost all of them. The only times I wasn’t were not due to poor performance, but because a scent wasn’t really up my alley. But, there are two products that are definitely my favourite ones at the moment (and have been for a couple of years). These are the Breath of Fresh Air skin tonic spray and the Sweet Lips lipscrub in vanilla and chocolate (I think they make a bubblegum flavoured one too, but I really hated that).
Breath of Fresh Air contains minerals, vitamins and aloe vera, making skin soft and silky, yet firm. It’s also great against redness and dryness. You can use it a number of ways. Just spritz it on your face when it’s hot or you’re in an environment with air conditioning. Or spritz it on your face at night as the last step of your cleansing routine. My favourite way to use it is after shaving my legs and armpits, as well as plucking my brows. After a shave it gives back moisture and makes sure the skin doesn’t get irritated (I’m not sure if it’s because of BoFA, but I haven’t had a single ingrown hair since using the spray after shaving, so I’ll just assume it’s that) and it’s much less of a hassle to apply than lotion. Personally, I’m not a body lotion kinda gal. I just don’t have the patience to apply it after a shave or, god forbid, every fraking shower. BoFA has a powerful spritzing nozzle, so applying that after a shave is a cinch. Spray, give it a quick rub and you’re done. The best use I’ve found for BoFA is definitely for helping with eyebrow-plucking. I pluck my brows after a shower (so the pores are more open and the skin softer) and use BoFA right before I start plucking (it has a cooling effect which helps with the pain) and then right afterwards. I apply it generously and it helps to calm the redness and pain that comes from plucking. I’ve been saved many a times by BoFA, when I had to pluck before work or a date (too disorganised to do it the night before) and needed the redness and swelling to be gone asap. So ladies, if you pluck your brows, this is a great product to have around the house. It also smells very nice (in my opinion). It’s got a fresh, green-plant-like smell that doesn’t stick around long. I consider that a good thing, because I don’t want a product I’m using inside my beauty routine to overpower or clash with the fragrance I intend to wear at the end. BoFA retails at 6,15€ for the 100ml size bottle (there is also a 250ml bottle) in their online shop.
Sweet Lips is a yummy lipscrub made from sugar, vanilla extract, cocoa and jojoba oil. This way, you’re not just getting a lip peel, but a bit of treatment too (the jojoba oil gives back some moisture). The scrub is so healthy, you can in fact eat it and not get sick, even though is a beauty product! The Lush lady who sold it to me even said: “It’s really easy to use. You just apply a small dollop of it to the lips, scrub it in and lick of the rest.” I tend to wash off the excess, but I know of plenty of people who do eat it. A little also goes a long way with Sweet Lips. I’ve had mine for about 2 years and as you can see, I’ve barely made much of a dent in it. I use it about once every two weeks, but you can do once a week if you need to. Also: it hasn’t gone bad in all this time. It’s still smells, tastes and performs the same as when I first opened it. Kudos, Lush! After you’ve used it, you’ll notice you not only have smooth lips, but they plump up a little and they have a very light film of jojoba oil on them. You could leave it at that, but I do like applying a balm afterwards, just to really pamper my kisser. Sweet Lips retails at 8,95€ in their online shop.
Do you like Lush too? What are your favourite products? And if you don’t have any Lush stuff, would you consider getting these two puppies? Let me know in the comments!
